About Figures and Their Types: FAQ/General Information on Figure Collecting
5:32 AM
For my next FAQ/General Information series, I will
cover some basic things about figure collecting and will be divided into 3
parts since it is sort of broad. Aside from cosplaying, my other hobby is figure
collecting in which I gave a bit of an introduction about it here. But for
those who still want to know more about this, uh, not-so-inexpensive hobby of
mine, I have prepared a FAQ/General Information on Figure Collecting.
(Warning: This is going to be long and image heavy)
Wow, time flies fast and it’s the end of October already. It’s now November and pretty soon, we will be busy with Christmas, which is just more than a month away. With November here, I’d like to start it by showing some of the few hauls I got for the month of October (with Cosplay Mania 2013 as the main cosplay event). I know it is late, but I just want to write about it and show the things I really collect hehe.
Well, for the month of October, I only had two hauls---with the ones from Cosplay Mania as the biggest one.
![]() |
| Cosplay Mania 2013 Hauls |
Top picture (L-R 1st row): Poring stuff toy, Rilakkuma stuff toy, Korilakkuma stufftoy
(L-R 2nd row): Bandai D-Arts - MegaMan X, Wave Beach Queens Fate/Stay Night Saber Lily, Nendroid Petit Saber Pajama, Shingeki no Kyojin Hanji Zoe Pin, Cosplay Snapshots Project Photobook 4, Fullmetal Alchemist Manga Volume 13
Second Picture (L-R 1st row): Ling Yao and Edward Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist) Keybies from Keybie Cafe
(L-R 2nd row): Evangelion Voice Dice Keychains, Reika Poster Cards
The picture above is a combination of both Marc and I’s hauls. Most of the ones here were bought from the various stores in Cosplay Mania, while some of them were ordered prior to the event---thanks to Onegai Oniichan. I already took a look at some of my hauls here, but I haven’t opened Saber Lily yet because I still don’t have time with the many things to do. In fact, I still have a lot of figures I haven’t opened yet! Hopefully, by this November I can do that and photoshoot them one by one. XD
-----------------------------
For the second haul of October, I only got a few than Cosmania, but it was because I ordered them prior to getting last October 19 in Megamall. This time, all came from Onegai Oniichan.

| October 19, Sunday, Hauls |
(L-R 1st row): Fullmetal Alchemist Artbooks Volumes 1 and 2 (gifts for a friend)
(L-R 2nd row): Fate/Zero Illyasviel Rubber Strap Banpresto Ichiban Kuji, Ichiban Kuji Berserker Chibi, NARUTO Shippuden Petit Chara Land Jiraiya, Kotobukiya Fate/Zero Rubber Strap Collection Irisviel von Einzbern
Also, to be honest, I haven’t taken them off from their boxes or plastic because I don’t want them to get dirty. I plan to display them once we have a display cabinet in our room so they won’t attract dust and will be clean. After all, they are part of my Fate/Zero collection.
----------------------
So yeah, these are my two hauls for the month of October. This will probably give you an idea what things we buy and collect in cosplay and anime events.
And this is also one of the reasons why we are looking forward to every major cosplay and anime events---because we see and buy new hauls that we can add to our collection. :D

I have many first loves in life and one of them is
anime. I love animes since I was little, though I can’t remember what was the
first anime I watched (I think Princess Sarah but I’m not even sure). But what really got me addicted to it was
when I watched Sailor Moon in ABC-5 (now TV-5) on one Saturday. Again, I don’t
know how Sailor Moon was introduced to me, but I knew the moment I watched one
episode, I would watch the next episodes. Of course, downloading wasn’t
available at that time, so I look forward to every Saturday then. It was in
this anime that I started having favorite characters, collected Sailor Moon
merchandises, read trivia about the show and the characters and even look for
fanarts.

Soon though, I wasn’t able to watch the next seasons
of Sailor Moon because either ABC-5 didn’t show all of them or I can became
busy with school. But after that, my addiction and love for animes started and
I was watching new animes, thanks to GMA-7, who then showed various animes
every day, every night (when telenovelas weren’t the in-thing yet). There was
one anime per night and would be followed by other new animes such as
Ghostfighter (Yu Yu Hakusho in Japansese), Daimos, Voltes V, Fushigi Yuugi,
Pokemon and more. I was already in high school at that time but I made it a
point to be home by six ‘o clock in the evening almost everyday to start my
anime-watching routine. And this continued until end of high school.

By the time I was college, watching animes was just
in passing as I concentrated in college already. And because of some unforseen
circumstances, I sort of stopped watching anime---though my love for it never
disappeared. Watching animes only came back when I tranferred to another
college and met my boyfriend---who was also an anime fan. We watched some few
animes every now and then, but not as religiously as I did before because I
still concentrated more on college. The more I was not able to watch anime when
I entered my media job as it took a lot more of my time the usual. In the end, I
missed a lot of great animes.
My bf and I only started watching animes a bit religiously around later 2010 to early 2011 when both our
jobs gave us more free time. Bit by bit, we were getting some old animes online
and was catching up a bit in the new ones (but yeah, we were more on the old
ones)---and I think one of the animes we started was Bleach. J That’s also the anime that got us into cosplay XD. Since then, we’ve been downloading old animes
so we can catch up until we are also now watching recent animes.
So now, we are both watching various animes that we
downloaded. We watch them separately though because my bf prefers to watch
animes in English dub while I prefer watching the Japanese dub with subtitles
because I get to feel the series more---plus I get to hear my favorite seiyuus
(voice actors).
And to keep track of the animes I need to watch and
those I have finished, I created a separate page here. As of now, I just
finished Carnival Phantasm and Einzbern Consultation Room. I am currently
watching Daily Lives of High School Boys. Also, when I feel it, I will be
making some anime reviews in the future for anime lovers out there looking for
good animes to watch.
I love that I am finally catching up on some old
animes and being updated on some recent ones too. I kinda missed this, so I’m
glad I have time now to watch these great animes. J

Finally able to post again!
These past weeks have been so busy because of work, cosplay, freelance, personal stuff and, haha, my birthday. Unfortunately, things stacked up and I have many things to finish or do up until now and I’ve been busy doing that. My “things to do” have been lessened but I will still be full in the next weeks. So hopefully, by the first week of November, my hands are a bit free. XD

Unfortunately, things stacked up and I have many things to finish or do up until now and I’ve been busy doing that. My “things to do” have been lessened but I will still be full in the next weeks. So hopefully, by the first week of November, my hands are a bit free. XD
Anyway, before anything else, I would like to take
this opportunity to just say that I had a wonderful birthday week last
September. I spent it with friends and
my other half and both had a great time with them. :D
On my actual birthday, I decided to try the birthday promo in Vikings Restaurant in SM Marikina and my boyfriend, Marc and I had my birthday dinner there. It has been a long time since I ate in Vikings (like 2 years ago) so I was looking forward to eating there.

Well, since I have a small stomach, I did not eat
much before dinner and it was a good idea because I made the most out of the
buffet. Despite my food being free because it’s my birthday, I wanted to try
most of the food there.
Also, as part of the birthday promo, I was given this small cake with a candle from Vikings. I just bought the cake home and ate it there (and blew the candle with Marc).
All in all, it was a great birthday dinner and
spending it with my boyfriend just made my birthday happy and memorable. J
Another birthday celebration I had was with my
cosplay barkada in my birthday weekend. It was also the time that I bought my
birthday gift to myself: my Holy Grail of Toushiro figures, Megahouse GEM
Series Toushiro Hitsugaya.
I bought it in Greattoys Online (GTO) Greenhills, but
I already had it reserved before getting it. I was also happy to know that GTO
was on sale and I got Toushiro at a discounted price. After that, I met up with
friends and treated them in KFC.
I also got the greatest gift from them: a new Sony Cybershot DSC W710 digital
camera. I did not expect this gift so it
was really surprise to me. Apparently,
they contributed on the camera and I was super touched by what they did. I was
so happy they made my birthday memorable and enjoyable. Now I can take more
pictures for this blog as well as take photos and videos of events J
So yeah, that was what happened in my birthday week and I consider it one of my best birthdays, thanks to my lovable boyfriend and cosplay friends. J
As I mentioned awhile ago, I was also busy with work,
freelance and cosplay. Marc and I were
doing his cosplay plan and making sure everything was complete in time for
Cosplay Mania 2013---which was held last October 5-6, 2013. The one assigned to
me was styling his wig because I had to make the ponytail part thicker since
his character, Jiraiya, has thick ponytail hair. I was able to make it a BIT
thicker but I needed more wig wefts and a whole white long wig for it to make
it thicker than normal. Since wig styling is still new to me and am on the
trial and error stage, I still have to improve the Jiraiya wig. Hopefully, next
year, when we plan to have a photoshoot,
I can make it better.
Here are some pics of the WIP (work-in-progress) of the wig.

10/28/2013 UPDATE: I got sick for one week and needed
to have bed rest in order for me to recover. I’m okay now, though I still have
a lot of mouth sores. Hopefully, everything will be back to normal soon.
------------------------
Anyway, that’s all I can update for now. I will be
doing a mini post on Cosplay Mania 2013 and what we did there. Also hopefully,
I’ll be able to blog more. J

Sorry for not blogging recently. I am super busy with
my work, birthday week and finishing a future cosplan for a big cosplay event.
The only time I was able to write was for my work, so I apologize that I haven’t
been updating.
But in relation to that, as I said above, I am also
busy finishing a cosplan (well my bf’s cosplan actually) for him to cosplay in
one of the biggest cosplay events this year: Cosplay Mania 2013. And I will take
this opportunity to promote the said event in case you are interested to go.

One
detail congoers must note is the ticket prices, which are P150 and P250
respectively, for each day. To know the difference between the two, just take a look at the picture below:
It
is advisable to buy your tickets before the event day itself as there will be
specific entrances for those who bought tickets early on and for those who will
buy them on the event itself. It will be
less hassle for you if you buy tickets early and you can get them in any SM
Cinema ticketing counter. Here are the details on the entrances to the event:

Another
thing to look forward is the special guests who are international cosplayers
from Asian countries. For this year, Cosplay Mania will have Kaname, Reika and
Goldy as their special guests.

Aside from ToyCon, Cosplay Mania is one of the
cosplay events my bf and I look forward to because of the stage events,
merchandise shopping, bonding with friends and, of course, doing cosplan.
Somehow, we make sure we debut a certain cosplan in this event, especially when
it is a cosplan that we are working hard on.
For this year, I am helping my bf fulfill his dream cosplay and we want
everything to be perfect.

| Some sort of WIP of my bf's cosplan. Sewing extra wefts done. Cutting some strands. |
We will be there on both October 5 and 6, and most
likely be there the whole day as we will be doing shopping, meet up with
friends, watch some performances and many more. So if you plan to go there,
would love to see you.
If you want to know more about the event, the sites are mentioned above or you can ask me. J
